Angela`s Cuban Restaurant in Athens

Recently moved to TN so first time dining at Angela’s. We WILL be back. My husband is Cuban and from South FL so we always scout out the Cuban restaurants wherever we are. Tonight was a win! Delicious mouth-watering Cuban food that rivals anything from Miami area. Get the Havana sampler appetizer, it’s the best! The ropa vieja was full of flavor and the Cuban sandwich my husband had was spot on! We finished the visit off with cafe con leche that was brewed and sweetened to perfection. If I onw suggestion for Angela’s it would be for them to carry Cuban sodas: Materva, Iron Beer, Jupina... Wonderful meal!

I have always loved to eat at Angela's. It was one of my husband's places to eat in Athens.

Our absolute favorite couldnt ask for better. The staff, food and environment is amazing. We keep going back.

Had the Cuban Sandwich, black beans and rice and plantains. Staff were very friendly. The food was very good! Will definitely be returning.

Good food at slightly inflated prices. Their tacos are proper soft, street style tacos. The Cuban sandwich is a little stingy on the meat, but the bread is quite good and the black beans and rice are authentic and beautifully prepared.

The best plantains I've ever had, perfectly ripe

I went in there once, for lunch, like 1:30 or 2 pm. Ordered the Cuban sandwich. It was ok. But was treated rudely by the waitress, as I was studying the menu for the first time. Received my order, left a nice tip but never went back.

Not authentic cuban food but it was really good. The staff was very friendly and kept checking on us if we needed anything else. I definitely recommend this place and would go back in a heart beat. This was the best Cuban food restaurant I been to In East TN.

Best Cuban sandwich I've ever had and the ride and beans with whatever the spicy sauce on the table is was amazing. I'll be going back soon to try the other entrees and getting a Cuban to go! My wife got the homemade chicken salad and it was good by itself but the sauce made it something special.

The Greek chicken was absolutely fabulous! Angela's is a great meeting place for friends and family. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the menu items are wonderful! They offer a great selection of Cuban cuisine.

Really good cuban/american food!! Also Mary is a hoot! Shes going to come and sit with you for a few minuets and you leave with a new italian mom. Lol

I'm Cuban, so I'm a harsh critic on my cuisine. The food was authentic and delicious. Just like back home in Miami. The staff is friendly. Owners are Cuban/Dominican and they take care of customers.

Great food and best desserts In town! I make the 20 minute trip from my house regularly just for a piece of the Tres Leches Cake!

This family owned business is the best! The food is wonderful and the staff is so kind.

Great place! Absolutely bangin Cuban sandwich, yummy rice n beans, n good people working to serve ya. It's very clean as well, with eye-pleasing decor, n the prices aren't too shabby either (I think the Cuban sandwich with a side was $8.50). Well worth a lil detour off the highway, n if you're a local... whatcha waiting for?

I’m reluctant to call Angela’s a hole-In-the-wall place. It’s way better than that. It’s been over a year since I stopped in. The first time was great and yesterday day was just as good if not better. They offer so much more than Cuban dishes. Burgers, Italian, Greek etc. For the weary travelers of interstate 75 between Chattanooga and Knoxville take the time to get a good meal. It’s worth the few minutes drive off the main interstate.

This place has some real good Spanish/ Cuban food since I left Florida, This is my #1 go to place. Could eat there everyday.

Good food, good service, fair prices

Food is always yummy. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Sometimes service is a little slow because there is always a crowd dining. Greek chicken and Fajita Bowls are two favorites. Great place to eat!!

What a Great Cuban Sandwich, looking forword to trying other things on the menu

this restaurant has great food. I've tried several of the sandwiches and today just tried the plantains. Absolutely delicious.

This place is absolutely fantastic. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. I would recommend ordering something you have never had before. You will definitely be pleasantly surprised. I’ve been there with someone who’s family is from Cuba and he said the food was spot on and very good. Highly recommended!

I had the Ropa vieja. Pork roast with rice plantains and black beans. The sweet plantains weren't that sweet and a bit over cook. The rice and beans were well cook. I would like for the black beans to have a bit more seasoning but they were ok. The pork was tasty and delicious. Service was quick and the prices were fine.

The food is always delicious and consistent. We enjoy having Belinda as our waitress as we have had her as our waitress for years.

Cubano food as good as I used to get down in South Florida! In Athens of all places. This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise.

Excellent food. Had masitas, the Cuban bread, BBQ pork sandwich, and the tres leches dessert. Did not see live entertainment at the time I went, and I wish the floor was a bit cleaner. Wait staff was extremely courteous and took good care of us. As other reviewers mentioned, the homemade hot sauce is delicious -- think a spicy, thinner version of Heinz 57 tastewise.Highly recommended.

Amazing Cuban food! Great flavor and service.

All the food is great and the music on Friday night is a nice touch to a date night. The first few visits had been wonderful but the last two times have been a letdown. Extremely slow service so be aware. Will return but hopefully get better service.

Excellent authentic food. Easy on the wallet too. Good atmosphere, music was spot on as an added bonus.

Don't be fooled by the exterior, this is a great place to eat. I had the Cuban classic Ropa Vieja with black beans, rice, and fried plantains. The brisket in the Vieja was high quality and proportions were well balanced: the meat was not overpowered by the onions, tomatoes, and peppers, but all the flavors blended together. Dessert was Tres Leche with Cuban espresso (no milk, no sugar). The cake was quite large and good, very sweet, as it should be, hence the strong espresso to act as a counterbalance. Portions were large, and the prices quite reasonable. Very good and highly recommended.

First time eating here and what a terrific surprise! The food was great! I had chicken breast stuffed with spinach, mushrooms and goat cheese. Grilled veggies that consisted of zucchini, carrots and onions. I got the side salad called house salad. It consisted of cucumbers, tomatoes and I think Cheese but don't quote me on that one. All for about $12.99 and a lot of food. Our server was very helpful and nice. The inside of the establishment was cute. I will definitely be going there again!
